Драндулет, колымага, развалюха, старый подержанный автомобиль. Слово banger произошло от bang (бац! бах! трах!). Это междометие похоже на «чиханье» старых автомобилей, когда их начинают заводить. John drives an old banger which he should have got rid of ages ago. — Джон водит старую развалюху, от которой он должен был давным-давно избавиться. С 1919 г. это слово также значит «колбаса», может быть из-за стреляющих звуков при жарке на сковороде.
